GURURASA ANSWERS MORE QUESTIONS ON DREAMS

Q 12 When did you - Guru Rasa - become interested in the interpretation of
dreams?

A I always HAD dreams but I became vitally interested when I was fourteen.
A young lady starting college left a book in the house on Sigmund Freud's
'Interpretation of Dreams.' There was one in particular that tweaked my
mind. A woman had two nephews, one of whom she preferred, when the one she
liked less died, and she went to his funeral. She then dreamed of the other
nephew dying and going to his funeral. With pangs of guilt she related this
dream to Dr. Freud. Freud then sagaciously interviewed her and discovered
she had seen an old boyfriend at the funeral; it was a straightforward 'wish
fulfillment' dream, the wish of seeing this man again. I was intrigued by
his interpretation, the ability to see the secret desire of the woman and
also relieving her of the sinful guilt of seeing the less favored nephew die
in place of the beloved.

At the age of twenty three I again revived my interest in dreams by studying
Edgar Cayce, but here is the difference I saw between Cayce and Freud.
Whereas Freud was great in psychology, he failed to see the spiritual aspect
of life, but Cayce adept at spirituality, seemed to ignore anything sexual.
I felt that our physical instincts as well as our spiritual yearnings should
both be recognized.

Throughout my life I have at odd times written or recorded my dreams
diligently, most often during the times of deepest contemplation. I have
done interpretation for others as well, but took note that if the answer did
not please them, they rejected the interpretation.

It interests me that Sigmund Freud stopped using hypnosis in favor of dream
interpretation - both valid windows on the unconscious mind. I myself have
been a spiritual hypnotherapist as well, having offices in California and
New York it, finding it a wonderful medium and disappointed that Freud
stopped using it - why, I asked. Did his turning away from it made it less
reputable and popular than it should be? Dream interpretation and hypnosis
for the sake of unlocking secrets are like apples and oranges, both
delicious, healthy and fruitful.

Q 13 What is inside the unconscious?

A The unconscious is the connection with eternity and all creation and
creatures within it, living and dead. Through access with the unconscious we
can enter the realm of any creature, living or dead, we can speak with them
and realize mysteries. The main reason we might want to access the
unconscious is to decipher ourselves, who we are as far as potential, and
guidance and direction for our lives. Secondly, we might want to know
regarding the people around us, for their edification or our own.

Then there is the communion with God and the saints - we gain much insight
and enlightenment by this.

Q 14 Who or what is God?

A God is all things to all people, there are many definitions such as
Truth, Beauty, Power, Perfection, etc. Who and What God is reveals Itself to
us through The Holy Spirit, and our dreams and visions. Our spiritual
experiences increase as we come closer to the Image of God or become
assimilated in Her likeness.

Q 15 How do meditation, prayer and rest, religious and spiritual
activities, enable our dreams and visions?

A To start off, when we rest we heal our mind, body and emotions and there
is less clutter, resistance and confusion in our mind, which allows access
into the unconscious.

Meditation is a sort of REST also where we silence our thoughts and allow
the windows of the unconscious to open.

Verbal prayer focuses our mind onto God and the work of God, and that
silences the outer realm and leads us to a deeper level.

Religious and spiritual activities, such as church, spiritual reading and
discussion of God, remind us of God, bringing us closer to God and away from
the confinement of the conscious mind, closer to the open vistas of
eternity, which is accessed by our unconscious. To put another way or make
it simple, the greatest secrets, revelations and mysteries are delved
through the unconscious, not the conscious, and within this also is God.

Q 16 Does this explain why mystics and saints have visions?

A Yes, their minds open up more to the eternal/infinite, and by this they
have the mental vision of knowledge, understanding and wisdom. This is not
to say that all this is accessed outside of Gifts - the Gifts of the Spirit
of God are something that happens separately.

On the other hand if a person concerns herself only with this life, it is
like telling their mind to stay in a place of limitation. Letting go of
limitation by spiritual activity is a decision one makes and a discipline
one practices that leads to great fruit.
